Yes, some stereotypes are true to varying degrees but I have definitely met more passionate people in general than the movie tries to show, and no, probably none of them have the number of patents that Wangdu had in the movie.3 Idiots is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age comedy-drama film co-written (with Abhijat Joshi) and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. For someone who's a passionate engineer, and having met all varieties of students (stereotypical or not) the stupidity of that movie boils my blood.ДЄnd to come to your question, no. I personally felt the novel was much more realistic than the movie but barring that I don't think most mainstream media get the environment of an engineering college right (and I say this having done it myself, seeing another system for my masters now and having spent five yrs in between recruiting new kids from Engg colleges).ДЇor that matter, most people cannot imagine a true engineering college beyond the stereotypes of movies like 3 Idiots (which in my opinion was one of the most if not the most idiotic representation of an engineering college ever). Just depends on the number of girls around you, how actively you are looking for a girlfriend and whether you got game or not. One of my friends even had a fling with a teacher.so it is what it is. obviously it is hard to find a girlfriend unless you are looking for someone outside of college or from different departments.ДЄlthough I had a short fling in my first year with one of the girls and it ended because she was very religious and believes that relationships before marriage are wrong and she would much rather spend her time learning.Also didnt help my chances any further when all the girls decided to be friends with each other and I couldnt work it out with the other girls cause of the failed relationship with my ex.ДЇor me, I believe girlfriends arent worth the trouble but there are some students who are dating with students from other departments (like pharmacy, nutrition). I'm in final year of civil engineering, and my batch has 5 girls out of 100ish students. Many a times in india you will have to give up your dreams for your family So wanting to do something like photography where mera life mere haath me hai and jo hojayega dekha jayega doesnt work just because you wanna follow your dreams. We still take care of our parents once we grow up. But in India, people have obligations to their families and stuff. The problem is too many people are trying to do this.

Plus in the current Indian environment wanting to do something like photography. What is wrong with stable income and a big house? Lets not discuss Rancho who is literally a one in a million. What is wrong with being Chatur? Almost everyone at some stage in their lifes in India does ratta of textbooks. IRL people like Chatur are really successful. But the solution it offers are not realistic at all. Right.It is realistic as far as its potrayal of Indian education system.
