My point here is, the gameplay sort of betrays the concept of the game. DonвЂ™t worry the gameplay is probably the best thing about Uncharted 2 besides itвЂ™s incredible multiplayer (THATS RIGHT I SAID IT) вЂњWoah OK hol up, donвЂ™t you dare talk about the gameplayвЂќ I know I know. The gameplay doesnвЂ™t do service to the concept.And I have to say U3 does a better job with surprises. ItвЂ™s also important to address that every Uncharted game has this structure except for 4. Sure there are a lot of welcome twist and turns in the format but itвЂ™s still very much the same structure and more often than not I could see what was coming. Continuously separated from both throughout.Break into Museum (learning about Shambala).Break into tomb (learning about El Dorado).The structure is too similar to DrakeвЂ™s Fortune.Uncharted 2 doesnвЂ™t really do a lot with any of its characters and basically gives us a retelling of U1 again, which leads me to my next point. Uncharted 4 is about вЂњescaping your monotonyвЂќ until the very end when itвЂ™s about вЂњescaping your past.вЂќ and he helps his brother realize what he learned in U3. Uncharted 3 starts with voluntary killing and violence from Drake, but the theme of that game is вЂњobsession.вЂќ Throughout the whole thing heвЂ™s being told heвЂ™s wrong, and at the end he realizes he was obsessed and that thereвЂ™s more important things in his life. Look, Uncharted 3 and 4 have their issues, but at least you can say in both of those games Drake grows up, big time. Elena and Sully never change from their U1 counterparts, so when Uncharted 2 ends it feels like we didnвЂ™t do anything and when Uncharted 3 begins it feels like we just came out of the 1st one. ItвЂ™s not just Drake either, itвЂ™s literally every character. Drake begins as the same Drake from U1 and ends being the same Drake from U1. ThatвЂ™s because nothing really important happens in Uncharted 2 when it comes to growth. Would you feel like there was a gap in the story? Nope. LetвЂ™s say Uncharted 2 never existed and it was just 1, 3, and 4. You could argue he still had sympathetic moments, like when he helped Jeff and didnвЂ™t plan on leaving him when he got shot, or when he wants to save Chloe on the train but it still doesnвЂ™t change the fact that this whole game started with that one theme: revenge. This game continues to go along with DrakeвЂ™s revenge plan until Schafer grounds his purpose in morality again. This is a huge step backwards in DrakeвЂ™s character progression, as not only is he killing people, heвЂ™s doing it with consent. Once Drake gets bailed out of jail, we immediately understand the theme of this game: revenge. Then we get to Uncharted 2, which disregards the morality of Drake in the first 30 mins. He doesnвЂ™t want the trouble, he just knows it might come with the territory so he comes packing.Дrake is also a passionate Sir Francis fan, who believes in his findings and cause, so we are more inclined to helping him find El Dorado. Even though he shoots and kills so many people, were there with him because the story shows that heвЂ™s only killing in self defense, like Indiana Jones. In the first Uncharted, Drake is sort of an unlucky/lucky carefree treasure hunter. Keep in mind, I still love it, much like all of the other Uncharted games, but I feel out of all the Uncharted games, it really doesnвЂ™t bring anything to the table as far as story goes, and thatвЂ™s my main problem with this game, the story: I think Among Thieves is the worst of the series. I just want to express an opinion IвЂ™ve had for a while, and itвЂ™s not a very popular one. This isnвЂ™t my way of trying to ruin a perfectly fine game for you, this also isnвЂ™t me trying to troll.
